Youth by Nero

NERO moved to New York in 2014 and has worked as a hairstylist on numerous advertising and editorial projects. He first ventured into photography by taking self-portraits with Andy Warhol's beloved Polaroid Big Shot camera, which then led him to document his friends who came to his studio for haircuts. While capturing Polaroid images of over 300 people living in the city — including photographers, artists, filmmakers, stylists, models, musicians, art directors, and skaters — a single word came to mind. This is the theme of this exhibition, 'YOUTH', a word NERO uses not to refer to youth as a number, but to express the attitude of people living with purpose, regardless of age. The 10.8 x 8.5 cm Polaroid film displayed at the exhibition captures 'youth' of all ages, occupations, and backgrounds, and their diverse personalities are what make New York what it is.

96 pages, 30.4 × 21.5 cm, hardcover, SALT AND PEPPER (Tokyo) & Friend Editions (New York).
