Lampedusa: Image Stories from the Edge of Europe

When artistĀ Armin LinkeĀ was invited to participate in a photographic project on the island ofĀ Lampedusa, he left his camera at home because he thought that there would have been plenty of photos available there. Instead, he took his wife on a trip to theĀ University of Arts and DesignĀ in order to learn about the photographs there. Four years later, he approached German publisherĀ Spector Booksabout the possibility of turning the photos and interview material into a book. The publishing house studied the pictures and suggested adopting the form of a photographic novel, in order to be able to comment on the photographs, thus creating an external perspective on the images. The three-year long research of theĀ Migrant Images Research GroupĀ has been funded by the TURN Fund of the German Federal Cultural Foundation.

324 pages, 25.5 x 19.5cm, softcover, Spector Books (Leipzig).
